Cementos Molins S.A. is a Company founded
in 1928, which started producing Calcium Aluminate Cement and that, from 1942,
has also been producing Portland Cement. Quoted in the Barcelona Stock
Exchange, has kept its character of family-owned business.
In 1980 it started its international
development, acquiring jointly with Unilanda an Argentinian manufacturer,
Cementos Avellaneda, which nowadays has two factories; later on, invested in
Mexico (Cementos Moctezuma), this time jointly with Buzzi-Uicem, and in Uruguay
(Compañía Uruguaya de Cemento Portland), again with Uniland. And from 2003
shares with Lafarge the control stake in Lafarge Surma Cement.
Now it controls, alone or with partners, a
nominal capacity of about 8,8 million tonnes of portland clinker, further to
its Calcium Aluminate Cement production, of which it has a capacity of 60.000
tonnes. Out of the cited capacity, 1,2 MTm. correspond to the undertaking in
Bangladesh.
Also in the 1980´s it started its
diversification in its home market, entering the concrete, pre-cast concrete
and special purpose mortars businesses. Now it produces in Spain more than 2
million cubic metres of concrete, 570 KTm. of pre-cast concrete, and about
500.000 tonnes of mortars (tile cement, rendering and masonry mortars),
activities that are being carried out by the following companies:
